MEET IVAN TARLTON

Kia ora koutou e hoa mā!
Ko Ivan tōku ingoa, and I whakapapa to Taranaki and Ngāpuhi. I’m the dad of an amazing daughter and share my home with a crazy mutt. In 2023 I’m full-time on Part 2 of my LLB.
As Junior Officer, I am responsible for a more focused level of advocacy and support for students engaged in Part 1 and Part 2. My role leans heavily on engagement so you’ll probably get sick of the sight of me, mainly on our social media channels and also in person at various competitions and events. My encouragement to you, particularly if you are new so possibly a little shy, is to engage back! Appreciate that while Law School is hard – we are all on this waka together – kaua e whakamā / please do not be reluctant to engage with your peers, the Exec, the faculty etc. Use our social media platforms which you’ll be guided toward to good effect.
If you need help, it is never far away, and no one will ever look down on you or think you’re silly if you ask for support or even just need someone to talk with. If you’d like to speak with me, drop me a line, let me know if you want me to email or phone you back and we’ll go from there.
Fun fact – I’m a sports photographer and keen supporter of women’s rugby and was involved with shooting the women’s Rugby World Cup recently – biggest buzz ever to see our wāhine take it out.
Ko ia kāhore nei i rapu, tē kitea – he/she who does not seek, will not find. Let’s go whānau!
